"Program Error" or "Error Number [xx]"
If you encounter a "Program Error" or "Error Number [xx]" message in GA-TaxPro, similar to the one shown below:
It is generally due to one of two reasons:
Permission issues: The program may have lost Full Access to specific folders.
Corrupted database: The program's database may have become corrupted.
Before proceeding with more advanced troubleshooting steps, try the following:
Step 1: Check folder permissions
Contact your IT department to ensure that the GA-TaxPro application has Full Access to the following folders:
c:/GA_TaxProLog
Program Folder
Current Data Folder
To find the paths for the Program Folder and Current Data Folder, navigate to "Setup Info" within GA-TaxPro.
Step 2: Reindex data files
In GA-TaxPro, go to Utilities > 1. Reindex Data Files.
Running this utility will help fix potential database corruption issues.
Step 3: Close and reopen GA-TaxPro
After completing steps 1 and 2, close GA-TaxPro completely.
Reopen the application and check if the error persists.
If the error continues to appear after following these steps, it may be necessary to investigate further or contact GA-TaxPro support for additional assistance. However, in many cases, ensuring proper folder permissions and reindexing the data files will resolve the "Program Error" or "Error Number [xx]" issue.
