Locate Your Existing GA-TaxPro Program and Data Folders
To ensure that GA-TaxPro points to the correct data folder and utilizes your existing data, it's important to install the software in the same location each time. If you're unsure of your existing installation's location, follow one of these two methods:
Method 1: Run Your Current Version of GA-TaxPro
Verify Data: Run your current GA-TaxPro software and confirm your data is present.
Note Folder Locations:
Click "Setup Information" in the menu bar
Record your Program Folder and Current Data Folder locations
Close Software: Exit GA-TaxPro
You can now proceed with the installation instructions to update GA-TaxPro to the same location.
Method 2: Check the C:\GA_TaxProLog Folder
Verify Log Folder: Navigate to C:\GA_TaxProLog. If this folder exists, you have an existing GA-TaxPro installation on your workstation. If the folder is not present, you do not have an existing version installed.
Open Log File: Open the file named GA_TaxProlog.txt
Note your App Folder and Data Folder locations: The App Folder location should remain consistent across all versions. If it has changed, you may have accidentally altered the location in the past.
Close File: Close GA_TaxProlog.txt
With the location information in hand, you can now follow the installation instructions to update GA-TaxPro to the same location.
By following these steps, you'll ensure that your new GA-TaxPro installation points to the correct data folder, allowing you to access your existing data seamlessly.
