Installing GA-TaxPro on a Network Server
This guide outlines additional considerations for installing GA-TaxPro on a network server.
1. Recommended Installation Path
We recommend installing GA-TaxPro on the network server in the following default folder:
\\[servername]\[path]\S_TAXGAW\Please note mapped drivers may not be recognized depending on your network server configuration. Please follow these instructions to install with server name (UNC share) instead of a mapped drive.
The Data Folder will, by default, be located in the application folder as follows:
\\[servername]\[path]\S_TAXGAW\DATA\We highly recommend the \DATA folder to be under \S_TAXGAW folder (ie. \S_TAXGAW\DATA\). We do not recommend separating the Data Folder from the program folder
2. Verify Permissions Setup
Full Control Permissions: Ensure that all users who will access GA-TaxPro have FULL CONTROL permissions over the application folder
In addition, if you are:
(Recommended) Installing from a Local Workstation targeting a Network Server: Then
C:\GA_TaxProLog
will be created on your local PC or laptop. Enable FULL CONTROL permission overC:\GA_TaxProLog
Installing Directly on the Network Server: This approach entails performing the installation directly on the network server itself. In this case, you will be logged into the server and executing the installation process locally. Then you need to enable FULL CONTROL permission over
C:\GA_TaxProLog
on the network server.
3. Disabling Opportunistic Locking (Oplock)
Understanding and Disabling Oplock: Follow these instructions to understand and disable Oplock to ensure smooth operation of GA-TaxPro on your network server.
4. Create Shortcut
On each local workstation that requires access to the application, create a shortcut targeting \\[servername]\[path]\S_TAXGAW\s_taxgaw.exe
Users can then run the application by clicking on the shortcut
